Aimee is back in the pool!
Their Story
Aimee always comes into SPARCC with a smile on her face. She has a way of pushing through adversity and making the best of her situation.
Aimee first started coming to see Dr. Mo for a concussion in the fall of 2017 after she hit her head on the wall while practicing backstroke. The most notable challenges to overcome were her lingering vision deficiencies and mood changes. This prevented her from doing what she loved like dancing, dirt biking, and of course, competing in the pool.
Instead of feeling sorry for herself, Amiee found ways to focus her energy on to new hobbies. Aimee didn’t want to be treated differently than her friends and classmates. She found joy in her automotive class at school and singing in show choir. She worked hard to make her life seem normal despite the weekly vision appointments and extra work she had to do to overcome her concussion.
She is so grateful for her friends and family that stood by her even when she was lashing out or feeling emotional due to her symptoms. They would go out of their way to show their support. Even though it was obvious that Aimee struggled with her vision, it was clear that every time she came in for her SPARCC appointment, she was improving.
Aimee has come so far since her concussion and is now even stronger on the other side. At the end of the day, Aimee always says, “life doesn’t get easier, you get tougher”.
We’re proud of you Aimee!
