Concussion Testing

Active Rehabilitation
Exercise tolerance testing while monitoring heart rates. Please dress accordingly to exercise during your appointment, wear tennis shoes and appropriate clothing. This could include bike, treadmill, elliptical and multi directional exercises such as speed ladders. After exercise, we also take a series of orthostatic blood pressures. AR takes between 20-30 minutes.

Neurocognitive Testing
Creyos and Impact are computerized cognitive tests that we use to write Individualized Cognitive Action Plan (iCAPs). These tests take between 12-25 minutes.

qEEG
qEEG with P300 auditory evoked potentials measures how the brain processes information after a concussion. qEEG records brainwave activity, while the P300 response reflects attention and processing speed. Identifying changes helps clinicians understand cognitive effects of the injury and guide rehabilitation.

Oculomotor Testing
Oculomotor testing for concussion patients evaluates how well the eyes move, track, and work together. Concussions often disrupt these functions, which can affect balance, reading, concentration, and recovery. By identifying dysfunction, clinicians can detect vision-related issues caused by the injury and guide targeted rehabilitation strategies.

Autonomic Testing
Comprehensive autonomic testing examines how a brain injury has affected the autonomic nervous system, which regulates heart rate, blood pressure, and other automatic body functions. Concussions can disrupt this system, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, exercise intolerance, and delayed recovery. By identifying signs of dysregulation, clinicians can tailor treatment to support recovery.

Vestibular/Vision testing
These tests will be completed at every visit as a part of the check in. This allows for greater precision when evaluating active rehabilitation testing and allows providers to track recovery progress over time. Balance will be assessed using the Bertec dual balance plate. Near point convergence and King-Devick Test will also be completed. This typically takes 3-5 minutes.
