Neuro-Optometry

What is NeuroOptometry?: It focuses on how vision and the brain work together. It addresses visual problems that result from neurological conditions such as concussions, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or other nervous system disorders. Neuro-optometric care helps patients improve visual function, balance, coordination, and overall quality of life through customized vision therapy and rehabilitation.

Concussions and Vision

Concussions are a result of impact, either direct or indirect, to the head. The impact causes the brain to hit the inside of the skull and results in brain bruising. This interrupts the connection between the eyes and the brain and results in:

  • Headaches

  • Disorientation

  • Confusion

  • Dizziness

  • Light sensitivity

  • Blurred vision

  • Double vision

  • Trouble focusing

Experiencing a concussion can cause long-term symptoms like:

  • Headaches

  • Vertigo

  • Visual difficulties
